Today I’m grateful there is forgiveness. It’s my parents anniversary, both are deceased. I’m thankful someone taught me to forgive them. I hope my children do. Parents aren’t perfect no matter how hard they try. We mess up. As I think of my parents today I’m thankful they were my parents, for what worked well and for what didn’t. I’m thankful that I can and do forgive them for where they messed up. And I’m thankful for those times when I can ask my kids to forgive me and hope that they do.

It’s Transfiguration Day for Orthodox Christians…one of my favorites for the promise it holds. Surprisingly, my head was very clear today – clearest it’s been since the smog from the Canadian fires. Party with friends outside saying goodbye to friends who are leaving for New York and St Vladimir’s Seminary.

We had a family reunion at Alicia’s today – she is so hospitable, makes for a great day with family. Most fun? Watching cousins Andrew and Jack (both 4 years old) play together and then bring Ezra (2 years old) into the games.
Also, very grateful for Breanne Hendrickson our dog sitter. Cannot praise her more highly. Anytime we need someone to take care of Rubicon she treats him like he was hers…and he is so excited to see her!

I’m so thankful there’s air conditioning in my office!

Grateful for members of mastermind group. If I weren’t in that group I wouldn’t have pushed beyond my comfort zone to start cold calling. Mixed responses initially, but commitment to the group kept me going.
Grateful Don vacuumed the rugs, it makes difference even tho’ I have a yoga mat to not be on the floor with the dog hair.
Grateful too to see that it is important to Don to make a difference. He loves to help and seeing that his help makes a difference builds him up too. Grateful for eyes to see this side of Don

I woke up this morning and was NOT feeling grateful. Remember reading an article about reading prayers of Gratitude which can be found in most major religions. I pulled out my copy of the Akathist “Glory to God for Everything”. This Eastern Orthodox Christian hymn was written by someone who was a prisoner in the Gulags during the reign of Stalin. The author’s first line of the refrain was, “Glory to Thee for calling me into being….” This from someone who was suffering persecution and horrible treatment by his captors simply because he choose to believe in God. Talk about an opportunity to change my perspective! I got to thinking, “what if I had never been called into being?” What I would have missed out on… It didn’t take long for me to begin to feel grateful. I read the entire Akathist. It is hard to not feel grateful after reading the last words of someone who died for his faith. I am grateful for having been called into being.
I met with Kelsey and Carolyn today. Meeting with them talking with them was also a moment of gratitude – to talk with two entrepreneurs who are learning to trust God while building a business and raising a family.
Don vacuumed the rugs. What a gift…a husband who is willing to do housework. I am blessed!

Today I found an old notebook that has columns for check marks. It’s something I’ve been looking for the last few weeks as I prepared to launch my own version of Ben Franklin’s system for self-improvement. I realize that I need paper and pen handy and beside my bed if I am going to suc. Just before bed is NOT the time for me to be on the computer!
